Description
Technology is all around our children and their digital citizenship skills need to be instinctive. Covering EYFS to Key Stage Two, Safe Zone contains 42 lessons all based on the skills in the government-approved framework, ‘Education for a Connected World’. Each lesson is age-appropriate and gives clear progression and development of skills.
Meet Great-Grandpa Joe…
In EYFS, pupils will meet Great Grandpa Joe and through a series of stories and lessons will help him to use his new tablet safely and guide him through some tricky technological scenarios
The pupils are also given exciting ‘Skills Development Tasks’ that support the learning of important basic digital skills. The combination of these immersive, fun and hands-on activities ensures a smooth transition into Safe Zone for Key Stage 1.
Key Stage 1 sees pupils beginning to focus on the core strands of online safety. Each lesson has a clear objective and uses software and apps that are age-appropriate, easy to access and simple to use.
Sign up your pupils as Safe Zone Cadets!
Key Stage Two pupils are invited to train to become fully-fledged members of the Safe Zone. They will meet General Mack who will guide them on their missions through each year group, before graduating as Safe Zone Generals themselves at the end of Year 6. Each lesson gives the pupils a clear mission to complete and an opportunity for reflective practice.
The progressive and developmental approach to Safe Zone will allow you to teach online safety and digital citizenship on a regular basis so that it doesn’t feel like an add-on or stand-alone activity. It will become as integrated into your PSHE programme as technology has become in your everyday life!
