Seasons Around the World
Seasons Around the World is a geography-focused unit exploring how different countries experience the seasons depending on latitude, hemisphere, climate zone and physical geography. Learners study autumn in Canada, spring in Russia, winter in Brazil, and winter in Switzerland, building strong map skills and comparing how climate, daylight, and seasonal behaviour vary across regions.
The unit deepens pupils’ understanding of hemispheres, the equator, latitudes, time zones, climate maps, and human and physical features. Pupils explore why seasons differ between the Northern and Southern Hemispheres, investigate cultural traditions around seasonal change (e.g., Russian dachas, Canadian “fall” tourism), and compare each region with the UK.
