Food, Glorious Food
Food, Glorious Food is a rich, sensory Early Years unit all about exploring food — where it comes from, how we prepare it, how it changes, and how it connects to culture, celebrations and daily life. Children take part in hands-on investigation, cooking, messy play, gardening, role-play cafés and markets, and food-themed stories. They learn about healthy eating, practise mathematical ideas through weighing and sharing, explore materials and changes through cooking, and develop creativity through food-based art, printing, and modelling. The theme encourages independence, communication, collaboration and curiosity as children taste, investigate, sort, cook and create with a wide variety of foods.
